Get ready to lock and load with the all new SMOK MAG 225W TC starter kit. This fancy device not only looks good but it’s also fun to use. That’s right, we have a beautiful and aggressively designed box mod with the battery tray in the shape of a gun magazine. It includes the highly popular TFV12 Prince sub ohm tank and the performance you get off it is amazing.
Love it or hate it type of design
What you get in the kit
The SMOK MAG 225W TC comes packed in a standard cardboard presentation box. Inside you will find the mod itself, the Prince tank with a 0.4 Ohm coil pre-installed, a spare 0.12 Ohm coil, a 5ml glass tube adapter, micro-USB cable, a screwdriver, spare parts and the user manual. There are a total of 25 available colors for this kit including Camouflage, Rainbow, Red, and Gold. The tank matches the mod and we have to admit to combo looks pretty great.
Design and features
The mod measures 92mm x 65mm x 30mm and weighs about 265 grams. It resembles toy car remote control and the design is very ergonomic. On top we have a solid 510 connector fitted with a spring loaded central pin. It can accommodate atomizers up to 30mm in diameter however, the plating only covers 28mm.
The fire button has a long press to it but feels quite comfortable. The OLED display and plus/minus buttons are placed on the side, together with the micro-USB slot and mag release button. Pressing the release button will make the battery slot pot out. This accommodates two 18650 cells and the “lock and load” feature is pretty fun and unique.
Power range on the SMOK MAG 225W TC is between 6W – 225W and the mod also features all the temperature controls. Works with Nickel, Titanium, Stainless Steel and TCR and minimum resistance is 0.05 Ohm in TC mode.
The color OLED display is crisp and vibrant and it’s pretty similar to that on the SMOK Majesty. Menu system is intuitive and easy to use and the build quality is pretty good.
The TFV12 Prince tank
One of the biggest pros of the SMOK MAG 225W TC is the TFV12 Prince tank. We saw this fat looking tank in the SMOK Stick Prince review last week. We loved it than we still love it when adding the power of the MAG 225 this sub ohm becomes a true cloud chasing champ. At this moment it is really one of the best tanks we tried so far with impressive vapor production and really awesome flavor. The coils are well engineered, they last for a long time and they can handle high VG without problems.
The tank comes with a beautiful snake skin resin drip tip and the swivel top filling mechanism is a big pro. In standard mode it can handle up to 8ml of e-liquids, while with the straight glass tube capacity goes down to 5ml.
Performance-wise, the SMOK MAG 225W TC is a really good starter kit. Flavor and vapor production are off the charts with the TFV12 prince tank and this matches nicely with the mod’s capabilities. We particularly enjoyed the 0.4 Ohm coil at 60W with 70/30 e-liquids. The mod itself is pretty sturdy and feels it could withstand a beating. The only con we have is with the design itself, which is more of a “love it or hate it” type of thing.
